How to Attract More Bidders to Your eBay Auction (part 1)
While listing in eBay is easy, attracting people to bid on their auction is a very serious problem for many new sellers. Is it really that difficult? Actually no, as long as you know how to make your auction "stands out". Here are the tips:
- Use the right title
You can imagine your title as an introduction for your auction. When people search for an item, it is showed up in eBay listing. If it is interesting enough, people will click it and read your complete auction. That's why it is very important to create a well written title. So what you should include in your title? Here they are:- The name of the company which made it
- The condition of the item
- The country where it comes from
- The name of your product
- The material it made of
Look at these examples:
- Delicious Robusta Coffee (wrong) -> Delicious Indonesian Robusta Coffee, unroasted 1lbs (correct)
- Original 1997 Juventus FC Jersey (wrong) -> Original 1997 Juventus FC Jersey, No 21 Wore by Zinedine Zidane (correct)
- Include it in the right category
Imagine this case: you are selling a wooden car. Which category should you put it in, in "crafts" or in "toys & hobbies"? There are many items that can be included in more than a category in eBay; so you should be careful. If you include it in the wrong category, no one will ever bid on your item. My advice is: do some research on the most popular keywords before you deciding to choose which category is the best. - Make your item description as clear as possible
What should you describe in your item description? Here are them:- The condition of your item.
This absolutely is a must. Try to be honest about your item; if it has scratch, or it has any damages, explain it in your item description. Don't hide it! - The return policy
There is possibility that your buyer is unsatisfied with your product; or got a damaged product. Will you allow him/ her to return it? And if you do, will you replace it with similar item or offering a refund? How long will this warranty last? In what condition is this warranty void? How long will it take for you to provide the replacement product? Don't forget to provide all this information in your product description, firstly because this guarantees your buyer satisfaction and secondly because you will need it to avoiding conflict with your unsatisfied buyer. - The shipping & handling cost
How much is the shipping and handling cost? What delivery service do you use? How long will it take? These are the information people tend to check before deciding to buy something. So don't forget to include them in your item description. Many countries require some special items (such as coffee) to be quarantined first (you will be charged for it). Please remember to explain and include it in your shipping cost.
- The condition of your item.
- Use clear & detailed photos
Imagine yourself as a buyer; when you are interested in buying an item, what is the first thing you want to know? Of course is the condition; is it broken or not, does it have any scratches, what it color is, etc. While you can get this information in the item's description section, it is much better if you can look at the photos. That's why as a seller, you should be careful about your photos. It should be clear (high resolution) and detailed. If you are afraid there will be connection speed issue, you can attach a small image and provide a link to the full size image. If you think a single image is not enough to describing your item, you can always attach more images by putting them in your own server.
